Nathan Stewart
In the process of designing beautiful and well-imagined spaces, perhaps the most important job is listening to what a client is saying. And also what they are not saying. Nathan takes these conversations, combined with a degree in landscape architecture and 30 years of onsite construction experience, and gets to the root of what a client is searching for. It is from this process that Nathan creates a space that reflects the client’s needs and not simply a pretty cookie-cutter landscape – creating beautiful and functional spaces that are unique to the customer.
Nathan is known for maintaining very high standards, which also means he has very high expectations. Everyone he chooses to work with is elevated to his standards in providing the best of possible work.
Nathan takes cues from a varying array of sources for influence on his work. Modern styles in architecture provide insights into new ideas and materials for outdoor spaces. A desire to find new uses for repurposed materials as well as a practical notion of preservation lead to a set of strong sustainable guidelines, enhanced by a practical intention to use the best possible materials for each project (which can mean sourcing locally, though there are always exceptions).
The simple goal is to create beauty in this world: beautiful spaces for great people.

Build
Craftspeople. Creators.
The build team of Escape Designs follows two simple principles: make sure it is well-built, and make sure you have fun doing it.
Our foundation is in construction, with Nathan having worked on job sites from a very young age. In that time he has been trained on how to properly construct things and, just as importantly, how NOT to construct things. This simple principle is the root of our construction process. We have a long-standing reputation of leaving behind well-crafted spaces and it is our goal to uphold this reputation.
This work can be difficult and not every aspect of it is glamourous BUT we strive to create a culture that loves to do it. This comes in numerous forms: love for the skilled work, passion for the finished product, appreciation for the client relationships during the process, and the relationships that come with being part of a great team. The simple fact is that this team is a collection of genuinely nice and good individuals, and each are a key to the pleasure that comes from creating beautiful spaces.
